Displays an dialog whenever an error occurs accessing a tape.
You can also view the error log from the “Utilities” menu in the main DeskTape window.
Files with custom icons take MUCH more time to display in the Finder views. Icons only get stripped as new files are copied to the tape. To strip existing icons, delete the files and re-copy. DO NOT use Cut or Paste with icons on a tape.
Launching applications from a tape take a very long time. Turn on this option to prevent launching applications on a tape.
DeskTape will check the tape log when you eject a tape and will warn you if the drive had difficulty reading from or writing to the tape.
If you receive a warning, try using an approved cleaning cartridge to clean your drive.
This is the type of tape drive DeskTape is configured for. You can change the drive type by holding down the <option> key then opening this menu. Consult with Optima before changing this item.
The tape's directory is initially stored on your startup drive in a file called DeskTape.dir. The space for the directory must be contiguous, so you may need to optimize your startup drive.

Polled SCSI transfers are slower but are required by some drives.

Allows you to modify data that has already been written on the tape.
This means you can save files directly to tape from most applications. Keep in mind that random writes will use large amounts of the tape directory.
